What is baybayin? Is it alibata?

Baybayin is an ancient script used in the Philippines before Spanish colonization. Also (inaccurately) known as Alibata, this script was historically primarily used by the Tagalog people, and is used by Filipinos more broadly today. Despite the prevalence of the Latin alphabet in the modern Tagalog (Filipino) language, baybayin remains an integral part of Philippine heritage and history.
